We can recognize fellow jewelry addict when we see one and we saw that light in Samantha Knight - jewelry designer extraordinaire hailing for Los Angeles. We love her jewelry for its vintage meets modern feel and we are not usually a yellow gold lover but her work changes our feelings about it. Her jewels communicate an easy luxe vibe and we totally agree with her that they go great with jeans and t-shirt. We caught up with Samantha for a few quick questions.
How did you get in the jewelry business?
I’m an Interior Designer by trade, so I’ve always been interested in jewelry, design and fashion. I started designing pieces for myself, then my friends wanted in so hence I started my line!
How would you describe your designs?
My jewelry blends traditional ideas about luxury with a fresh, modern twist, perfect for stacking, collecting, and layering with older, well-loved pieces. I want my pieces to be worn every day, for every occasion, and for no particular reason. They are like fun, new, but with and edge and somewhat vintage? So many adjectives there!
Where do you get your inspiration from?
I’m very inspired by the past, the times of dressing up. This is why I like diamonds and gold — it dresses up any outfit! Diamonds take jeans & t-shirts to another level!
What is the hardest thing about running and owning a jewelry company?
Staying focus! It’s so easy to get sidetracked by all the beautiful shiny objects out there.
Why do you love jewelry?
I love how the simplest pieces can make one feel. I feel just that much more pulled together with a dab of jewels on me!
Any words of wisdom for jewelry entrepreneurs?
Have you plan figure out before you jump in! It’s very easy to get distracted, so stay focus and continue to look for inspiration.
