Unique cuts have always intrigued me, and I wish there was more information out there about them for consumers. You may be asking yourself what I am even talking about...well we all know the standard diamond cuts: round, emerald, cushion, asscher, princess, pear, oval, heart, and radiant. But there are cuts of diamonds people don't really talk about e.g. step cut hexagons (my personal obsession) or in this case (my new love) what are we talking today the Crown Jubilee Diamond.
I currently have one for sale in the Gem Hunt shop and I thought it warranted some further digging into the history and magic behind the Crown Jubilee Diamond.
So a little back story on the Crown Jubilee Diamond Cut, Alan Nacht of Bernard Nacht created this cut of diamond in 2016, so it is fairly new to the market. The Crown Jubilee is made from recutting Old Mine or Old European Cut diamonds. It is a way of reclaiming old diamonds that might not be usable after many years of love and wear. Recutting these reclaimed stones gives them a new sparkly life to be re-loved.
Because the process is using old diamonds it is also a sustainable and eco-friendly cut of diamond that you might want to consider as you are looking for an engagement ring. These stones are available loose (not in a setting) so the best part is, you can choose your favorite jewelry designer’s styles to set it.
Now, why is the Crown Jubilee Cut so beautiful? Let's get into the details a little bit. Most modern cut diamonds have something known as the "table" which is the flat part on the top face of the diamond. Crown Jubilee diamonds don't have a table, instead, they come to a subtle peak, bringing harmony between the crown of the diamond (the top) and the pavilion. This refashioned symmetry allows something old to be new again but also brings to light in the diamond the most amazing floral kaleidoscope that people go gaga over.
Crown Jubilee diamonds are the best of old and new and if you are looking for a very special unique diamond this is a cut I would definitely check out this cut.
