Ah your dream ring, everyone has one, or maybe you don't and that's okay too. The point is one day you will be wearing your dream engagement and we are here to help with that. We know what you want, the ring that perfectly embodies your style, makes you saw WOAH every time you look into it and we are not gonna lie makes your girlfriends just a little jealous. Now how to get to that end goal? Well, it's possible, we aren't gonna lie its hard work but we will hold your hand and it will be worth it in the end.
Step 1: Decide on a style
Who are you and who do you want your ring to be? Do you dress preppy? Are you a goth girl? Do you want to ring to be an everlasting classic? Or something no one has ever seen before? We recommend making a mood board of images you want your future dream ring to evoke. So you can really narrow down on the style.
From there we recommend these buckets for styles - classic, antique, modern, and alternative (think salt and pepper diamonds with rose gold) as a good way to describe your style to the jeweler you are working with. It is always a good idea to show him or her your mood board and pictures of rings you like so they can really get a feeling for what you are looking for.
Step 2: Decide on a center stone, color, and shape
This step is a fun one, we are digging into the meat of the ring now. Let's talk about the centerstone first - they come in some traditional shapes: heart, round, emerald, asscher, marquise, pear, & oval. Or maybe something more unusual - a custom cut hexagon or the Crown Jubilee? With any engagement ring choosing the rock is very important (duh!).
There are lots of ways to answer the question on how to best find your diamond but honestly, the best one is to just find a stone that speaks to you! You will be looking at it every day, so whether you want to wear to a sparkle bomb on your finger or a hall or mirrors Asscher cut your soul needs to connect with that stone and that is what is most important.
Step 3: Decide on metal type
This can be tricky a one! Besides the normal options you hear all time — white gold, yellow gold, rose gold, and platinum — it is very trendy right now for designers to mix their own custom blends of metal colors! Behold things like peach gold, & champagne gold that are becoming very popular.
A great place to start just with what color appeals most to you and then consider how that will look in combination with the diamond you have chosen. Maybe your diamond is a little on the warmer side you might want to bring that warm hue out by setting it in yummy rich 18k yellow gold. Or maybe you just love pink and you want rose gold setting on your engagement ring.
Final words of wisdom - stick with what your heart is drawn to you and you won't go wrong.
